Bachelor's Courtney Robertson Calls It Quits After Six Years

Sometimes the fairy tale doesn’t have the ending you thought it would. Former Bachelor winner Courtney Robertson, who famously won Ben Flajnik’s final rose back in 2012, has filed for divorce from husband Humberto Preciado after nearly six years of marriage. The split comes after Robertson discovered information that she says“irreparably damaged”her trust in the relationship.

Robertson made the announcement public on Friday, July 10, sharing a statement with People magazine that struck a notably mature and measured tone. She acknowledged the difficulty of her decision while making clear where her priorities lie: her three children—sons Joaquin, 6, and Gabriel, 2, plus daughter Paloma, 4. In court documents obtained by Us Weekly, filed on June 26, Robertson stated the relationship was“irretrievably broken”and asked the court to establish joint legal decision-making regarding the children’s care, while also requesting child support, spousal support, and fair division of marital assets and debts.

What makes this split particularly poignant is the contrast to how Robertson once spoke about her connection with Preciado. When the two first got together after meeting via social media in 2019, Robertson was genuinely effusive about finding what she thought was her person. She told Us exclusively in December 2019,“There was just a level of comfort and connection that I’ve never felt before. I never believed in that feeling of when you know, you know until I met him.”Those words—”when you know, you know”—felt so certain then.

Now, Robertson is navigating the difficult reality that sometimes connections we’re convinced about shift beneath our feet. She’s emphasized her commitment to maintaining an amicable coparenting relationship with Preciado and asked for privacy as her family moves through this transition. Her statement revealed someone trying to find peace in a painful process, choosing what she calls“a healthy, stable environment for my children”over holding onto something that’s broken.

Bachelor Nation has seen its share of divorces over the years, but Robertson’s journey—from winning a rose on national television to quietly processing a marriage ending—reminds us that reality TV endings, no matter how romantic, don’t always predict real life. What matters now is how she moves forward for her kids.
