It turns out that all the marriage jokes were just that—jokes. Comedian Tom Segura and his wife Christina Pazsitzky have ended their 18-year marriage, according to reports that broke on Monday, July 13. The split happened a few months ago and was reportedly amicable, which is probably the most shocking part of a relationship that both comedians have spent years mining for material on stage and in front of millions of podcast listeners.

The pair tied the knot in November 2008 and became one of comedy’s more visible couples. Beyond being husband and wife, Segura and Pazsitzky built a business empire together: they cofounded YMH Studios, the podcast network behind Your Mom’s House, which launched in 2012 and became a cult favorite among comedy fans. They also collaborate creatively—Segura created the Netflix dark comedy Bad Thoughts, in which both appear alongside Daniella Pineda, Robert Iler, and Arturo Castro. Together they share two sons, Ellis and Julian, born in 2016 and 2018 respectively.

But here’s the kicker: despite the split, Segura and Pazsitzky plan to keep hosting Your Mom’s House together. That’s right—they’re going to keep showing up and cracking jokes with each other on a weekly basis, which either speaks to genuine maturity and professionalism or sets up the potential for the most uncomfortable podcast episodes in recent memory. Given their track record of turning relationship friction into comedy gold, there’s a real chance listeners won’t notice much of a difference.

Over the years, both comedians have been brutally honest about marriage in their work. Pazsitzky joked in her 2017 Netflix special Mother Inferior that while she loves her husband and thinks he’s fantastic, she wants to punch him in the face every single day. Segura, for his part, has described his marriage as one of intimidation and fear, joking that his wife is Kim Jong-il and he’s the people of North Korea facing daily interrogations and a looming execution. Their comedy together was never saccharine or aspirational—it was the real stuff, the grinding daily reality of two people sharing a life. Maybe that’s what made the split feel inevitable to anyone paying attention.

The couple did make headlines earlier this year when they got stuck in the Caribbean following a vacation. Thanks to the Trump administration’s military action in Venezuela at the time, airspace kept opening and closing, trapping them for extra days. Even then, they handled it with characteristic humor, posting videos where Segura and Pazsitzky joked about the uncertainty and promised fans they’d make it home. It was vintage them—chaos unfolding in real time, filtered through comedy.

What happens next is anyone’s guess. Two comedians sharing a professional endeavor after a split is unusual territory, but then again, these aren’t usual comedians. They’ve built their entire brand on honesty, weirdness, and the ability to laugh at the messiest parts of life. Your Mom’s House listeners should buckle up.
